Parallel: Essential Makeup

If for some reason all but three of your makeup must get destroyed and you can’t buy them back, which ones would you keep? Would it be your favourite mascara? Or concealer? In today’s post we will share with you our three essential makeup. This might be a challenge for Chisa because she has a gazillion makeup in her makeup bag (haha).

Mumbler of the Year

Gelati: First up is my Chanel comfort radiance compact makeup (approx CA$80). Before you go all “Gelati, you are such a brand slave” or “what a rich brat”, let me explain to you that I don’t use a lot of makeup and I’m sure my makeup budget is a lot smaller than many other girls out there. I’ve used many pressed power before (e.g., Dior, Shu Uemura) but this is really the best for me. What I like most about this Chanel pressed powder is that it leaves a smooth soft-matte finish to the skin which never looks cakey. Also, I like having the option of using the brush, which comes with the powder foundation, or the sponge, which gives a fuller coverage. Sometimes this is the only foundation I use when I go out (and it has SPF10 protection).
Chisa: Look at Gelati with all her blingy shiny cosmetics! Oh my, oh my! Yes, I love makeup and it was super difficult to narrow it down to just a few but I thought I would share something I really recommend. Like this CC cream! If you don’t usually wear foundation but want to brighten up your skin, this tube will do the trick! It’s called the Smarty Plants CC (CA$44) and it corrects, perfects and protects. It’s a fairly new product from Origins and I love how light and gentle it is on my skin. I have super sensitive skin so I only use natural cosmetic brands. I’ve been using skincare products from Origins for a while now but this is my first cosmetic purchase and I’m loving it so far! :) FYI I don’t just use this CC cream alone, I apply primer, cc cream, concealer and some powder to finish it. It might sound like a lot but they’re all super thin layers so it doesn’t look cakey at all!

Gelati: Next up is my Bobbi Brown dark brow kit (CA$55). I redeemed this with cash vouchers that I received from my old job, and I didn’t really use it much at the beginning. In fact, I used to not pay too much attention to my eyebrows but lately I finally learned THE IMPORTANCE OF EYEBROWS! I mean, having dark and well-defined eyebrows make me look so much more energetic and smart (yes, smart!) At least that’s how I feel. So now, I fill in my eyebrows even if I don’t put on any other makeup. Back to this brow kit, it’s pretty amazing because it has a two-sided mirror (with one side magnified), a mini tweezer and brow brush (the salesperson convinced me to buy the kit over a normal brow pencil because of the brush LOL). I’ve used this intensively for a year now and it’s still 70-80% unused. Definitely worth the money!
Chisa: I used to be a fan of MAC, but as I got older I drifted away because it was just too much for my skin. Most of my eye shadows are from Japan because they have a lot of colour variations and they blend really well with Asian skin. But this blush really impressed me with its pigment and colour! Plus it’s all natural. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (CA$31) is really amazing! Usually natural cosmetics aren’t so long-lasting but this keeps my cheeks nice and bright for a very long time. I was looking for this Tipsy-Coral colour everywhere and finally found it at the 4th Sephora location I visited. I love coral!

Gelati:Last but not least, how can I not talk about my dear Lancôme Artliner (black, CA$37)? I’v been using this since I was 15 or so, and this is by far the best liquid eyeliner I’ve used. It lasts for a long time and is super easy to remove (and it doesn’t irritate my eyes). Best of all, it’s really easy to control. If I could only have one makeup with me, I think I’ll take this eyeliner because having a bit of eyeliner on really makes a difference to how I look.
Chisa:I know these aren’t really cosmetics, but I really really need these brushes to complete my face (ok, that sounds kind of wrong, but girls, you get it right?). From left to right: eye hole, blush, face powder, under eye highlighter, and accent brush. I can’t exactly remember where I got all of them but the 2 large brushes are my favourite! They are made with real hair and the ends are not cut so it doesn’t poke your skin which is perfect for my weak skin.
Do you use any of the cosmetics that we recommended? What are your favourite makeup? If you are a dude and are reading this, the above makeups probably make pretty nice X’mas presents for your girlfriend!
